Last Update: 19/09/2025
1. What is the Elevator Inventory Registry?
It is the registry in which all installed elevators within the national territory must be mandatorily recorded, regardless of their stage of compliance with the Joint Ministerial Decision (KYA) No. Φ.Α./9.2/οικ.28425/1245/22.12.2008 (Government Gazette 2604/B/2008).
2. Does the elevator inventory replace the current process of registering elevators with the registries of local Municipalities?
No. The inventory of elevators in the new registry is a separate obligation and does not replace or substitute the existing registration process in the local Municipal registries under KYA Φ.Α/9.2/Οικ. 28425/1245 (Government Gazette 2604/B/2008), which remains in effect.
3. Who is responsible for recording the elevator in the inventory registry?
The inventory process is the responsibility of the owners, managers, or their legal representatives. Additionally, the inventory can be carried out by the authorized maintenance technician or the elevator installer. If multiple persons are eligible to register an elevator (e.g., co-owners), it is advisable to coordinate so that the elevator is registered only once, by a single person.
4. What do I need to register the elevator?
Registering the elevator is easy and takes only a few minutes. First, the person registering the elevator (owner, manager, legal representative, maintenance technician, or installer) visits the website https://elevator.mindev.gov.gr/. You can consult the user instructions posted on the site. Select “Enter Service” and then “Login with TaxisNet credentials (Citizens).” Once logged in, fill in the mandatory fields and any optional fields.
5. What was the deadline for the elevator inventory?
According to current legislation, the deadline for the elevator inventory was November 30, 2025.
6. There are multiple elevators installed in the building. How do I register them?
Each elevator must be registered individually by selecting “Add Elevator +,” and filling in the relevant details for each one.
7. Are lifting platforms for people with disabilities, passenger lifts, and cargo lifts recorded in the elevator registry?
Only elevators are recorded in the registry. Lifting machines that do not qualify as elevators are not included.
8. How do I know if a lifting machine, such as a platform for people with disabilities, is not considered an elevator?
If the lifting machine comes with an EU (or EC) Declaration of Conformity stating compliance with European Directive 2006/42/EC (or the earlier 98/37/EC), then it is a “machine” and does not need to be registered. If the Declaration mentions compliance with European Directive 2014/33/EU (or the earlier 95/16/EC), then it is an elevator and must be registered. In any case, the manufacturer/installer or their authorized representative is best suited to clarify the type of equipment.
9. How do I calculate the number of stops for an elevator?
The number of stops is the number of levels where the elevator is programmed to stop for the boarding and disembarking of users or loads. For example: in a four-story building, the number of stops is five (Ground, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors). If the elevator also serves a basement, the stops are six.
10. I registered the elevator but accidentally entered inaccurate data (e.g., wrong building address). What can I do?
Once the inventory is finalized, the data cannot be modified. However, you can delete the registration and re-enter the correct details.
11. My elevator is not maintained by a technician. How can I register it?
According to the legal framework, all operational elevators must be maintained by a licensed workshop. However, if an elevator is out of service, maintenance may not be occurring. In this case, for registry purposes, there is an option to state that the elevator is in “long-term immobilization” (more than three months).
12. After the inventory and before the end of the period (November 30, 2025), I changed maintenance workshops. Do I need to update the registry?
No, the inventory registry captures data concerning the installed elevator specifically at the time of its registration.
13. Can the system detect if an elevator has already been registered and prevent duplicate entries by a different VAT number (e.g., another co-owner or the technician)?
No, the registry cannot automatically detect if an elevator has already been registered. Therefore, coordination between the manager, co-owners, and technicians is essential to ensure each elevator is registered only once.
14. I am renting a building. Do I have an obligation to register its elevators?
The inventory is performed by owners, managers, or legal representatives, as well as maintenance technicians or installers. If you hold one of these roles, you can register the elevator.
15. I don’t know the exact year the elevator was installed. What should I do?
Alternatively, you can declare the year the building’s permit was issued, adding a note in the observations field. If the permit year is also unknown, you can enter an estimated year with a relevant note.
16. Can I register an elevator by logging in with a Legal Entity’s TaxisNet credentials (e.g., for business or public buildings)?
Yes. You can use a legal entity’s TaxisNet codes to enter the application and register an elevator.
17. The apartment building where the elevator is installed has its own VAT number. Can we use its TaxisNet credentials?
Yes. Registration can be performed using the TaxisNet credentials corresponding to the building’s VAT number.
18. I enter the 12-digit Land Registry Number (KAEK) for the property, but the system says “KAEK not found.” How do I finish?
The inventory can be completed without a KAEK by manually filling in the address details of the property.
